I’ve been noticing more huge sculptures in public spaces and honestly some of them are pretty wild. I like how a large-scale piece can completely change the feel of a place, especially when it’s something abstract or unusual. Do you guys think these oversized sculptures actually add something to a space, or are they mostly just expensive decoration?
I think they can add a lot when the scale actually fits the location. A well-designed oversized piece can become the thing people remember about a building or public space. I was looking through some examples recently and found https://overscaleart.com/, they have some pretty interesting large-scale sculptures. Some of the pieces would definitely make a space feel less generic.
