A sassy (yet sometimes serious) social commentary about singleness, marriage, and everything in between — with a healthy dose of sarcasm. The Single Man’s Bedroom VS. the Married Man’s Bedroom. Whenever I write about marriage, I feel severely out of my league. I’ll readily admit that if I ever tie the knot, I’ll probably go back and rewrite all my blog material on marriage. So whenever I tackle a subject regarding marriage or the like, I try to approach it from a candid, yet “eager to learn” attitude. So when it comes to topics like juxtaposing a single guy’s bedroom with a typical married man’s bedroom, most of what I would say about the married man’s bedroom would be out of the little personal experience I have, stories from my married friends, and of course, pure speculation. So here are 3 big differences I’ve discovered between the bedroom of a married man and that of a single man. (But trust me, there’s plenty more.) The bed itself. The married man’s bed is usually a king or queen-sized bed, complete with decorative headboard. Thanks to the wife, the bed is almost always perpetually made, and is made with freshly-washed sheets and 20 pillows stacked on it. (Seriously—20 pillows? Is this some kind of contest?) On the other hand, the single guy’s bed will almost never be made . In fact, his “bed” is usually a futon, or a twin mattress on the floor with just one pillow, and the last time the sheets were washed is anyone’s guess. Clothes on the floor. The single guy will usually have his socks, boxers and t-shirts shamelessly strewn all over the room. And if there is a laundry basket, it’s full of clean clothes that haven’t been put away yet, while the dirty clothes cover the entire floor. The married guy doesn’t have any leeway for such behavior.
